Welcome to the Upland Library!

Upland’s Library is designed to serve the Upland community through its collection and services.  The Library is physically the heart of the Academic Center; each classroom opens directly into the Library space.  Students of all grades mingle as they work on group projects, study, research, and relax with recreational reading.  The architects’ and planners’ vision was that children would be surrounded by inspiring architecture and art, and to that end the Library features a variety of excellent paintings and sculptures.  The Library is divided into three areas.  The Reading Room, with comfortable seating, the magazine collection, and a fireplace, is a popular spot for teachers to bring classes for read-alouds, and it is also the site of the annual 4-5th grade formal Valentine Tea.  The main area of the Library houses the bulk of the 10,000 volume collection, as well as tables for group work.  The reference area contains more tables, and also 15 student computers, all with Internet access.

The mission of the Upland Library is to be an integral part of the instructional program, to support and enrich Upland’s  curriculum, to provide students with the skills to seek and evaluate information, and to promote a lifelong love of reading and learning.  The Library strives to be the intellectual center of the School, linking the Upland community to an ever wider circle of literature, knowledge, and information.
